Defense Minister, Taiz Governor Survive Assassination Attempt
Defense Minister Mohsen al-Daeri and Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan survived an assassination attempt on Saturday, believed to be carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
According to a military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the convoy of al-Daeri and Shamsan was attacked by a bomb-laden drone in Al Khadaha, west of Taiz city.
One soldier was killed and two others wounded in the attack that targeted a checkpoint before the passage of the convoy.
The attack came amid international efforts to put an end to the 8-year-long conflict in Yemen, raising uncertainty regarding peace in the war-torn country.
