Masam, the Saudi Project for Mine Clearance in Yemen, said its demining teams have cleared as many as 1242 Houthi-laid mines and explosive devices in the 4th week of November.
According to the project, the dismantled mines included 172 anti-personnel mines, 220 anti-tank mines, 795 unexploded ordnance, and 55 explosive devices.
Masam started its demining mission in mid-2018. Since then, the number of cleared mines has reached a total of 373894 mines
It is reported that the Iran-backed Houthi militia laid about 2 million mines in large swaths of the country.
Such mines have killed, maimed, or wounded tens of thousands of unsuspecting civilians since the outbreak of the seven-year conflict in Yemen.
