Anti-Houthi Salafi commander Abdulrazaq Al-Baqma was assassinated on Friday by unidentified gunmen in Yemen’s Marib, local sources said.
Al-Baqma was one of the prominent military leaders who fought off Houthi attacks against Marib city over the past years. He was recently assigned to lead 1st Brigade in the Saudi-backed Happy Yemen Forces.
No group has so far announced responsibility for the assassination of Al-Baqma.
Governor of Marib and member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council Sultan Al Aradah directed authorities in Marib to launch a full-scale investigation into the assassination of Al-Baqma.
According to local sources, Al-Baqma was found dead in his car Marib Al Wadi with five shots in his chest
