A Yemeni journalist is reported to have been killed by a car bomb in Yemen’s interim capital, Aden.

The incident took place on Wednesday night in Al Mansoura district, killing Saber Al Haidari and wounding others who happened to be with him inside the car.

“Unidentified assailants planted an explosive device in the vehicle of journalist Saber Al Haidari, who works for a number of foreign media outlets,” AFP reported, quoting a security official.

Minister of Information in Yemen’s internationally recognized government Moamar Al Eryani accused the Iran-backed Houthi rebels of carrying out the assassination.

“We strongly condemn the assassination of journalist Saber Al-Haidari, an employee in Ministry of Information & Japanese NHK TV reporter, by an explosive device planted in his car in Al-Mansoura district, Aden, who left Sana’a in 2017 after being harassed by terrorist Houthi militia,” Al Eryani tweeted on Thursday.

In November a similar incident took place in Aden, killing pregnant Yemeni journalist Rasha Abdullah Al Harazi and her fetus and wounding her husband Mahmud Al Atmi, also a journalist.
