Masam, a Saudi project for mine clearance in Yemen, said its demining teams managed, during the send week of June, to dismantle a number of 1336 mines the Iran-backed Houthi militia had planted across Yemen.

The removed mines include 42 anti-personnel mines, 245 anti-tank mines, 1,048 unexploded ordnance, and one explosive device, according to Msam.

The Saudi demining project has cleared as many as 345,147 mines and explosives since it started its mission in mid-2018.

However, Yemen is far from being a mine-free country, for the Houthi rebels have reportedly planted roughly two million mines in large swats of war-devastated Yemen.

Reports indicate that thousands of Yemeni civilians have been killed, maimed, or wounded as a result of such mines.
