At least two civilians have been killed and 4 others wounded in the last 24 hours due to landmines planted by the Iran-backed Houthis.
According to Yemeni Landmine Records (YLM), an observatory for documenting mines and unexploded ordnance victims in Yemen, one civilian named Muga’ali Ibrahim and his daughter, Saidah, were killed and another child wounded on Saturday when a Houthi-laid mine went off while they were grazing their sheep in Tho Bab district, west the six-year besieged city of Taiz.
The YLM reported that about three civilians from the same family sustained critical injuries when their car ran over a landmine planted by Houthis in Al Jawf province, northeast Yemen.
Since 2015, Yemen has been riddled with mines and explosives. Reports indicate that the Houthi militia has planted over a million mines in large swaths of the war-torn country. Such mines have killed, wounded, and maimed thousands of unsuspecting civilians.
