At least five people have died due to extreme cold weather some Yemeni provinces are witnessing these days.
The extreme cold weather killed two Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Marib province and three children in Saada province, local sources said.
Fatima Saeed Al Aqra’a, 50, and a child named Wadah Alsalahi died from extreme cold weather that has hit Marib province, Balquees TV reported, citing Ahmed Al Haremi, a representative of Al Swaida Camp for IDPs.
Al Haremi called on the Yemeni government and international organizations to immediately intervene and provide life-saving materials and more shelters for the IDPs whose lives are at risk.
In Saada province, Houthis’ stronghold, three children were also killed when accumulated snow caused the collapse of their clay home.
The incident took place in Magzar district, one of the most districts struck by frost in Saada.
Reports say Yemen is facing the coldest winter ever as frost has been witnessed in several provinces for the time.
