A mother and her four-year-old child were wounded today due to a Houthi shell that hit their home in the five-year-besieged city of Taiz.

A mortar shell fired by Houthi rebels landed on a house in Al-Dabowa neighborhood, leaving a mother and her child seriously wounded, local sources said.

Doctors without Borders organization condemned the indiscriminate shelling on residential areas, calling all parties to the conflict to “abide by International Humanitarian Law and take all necessary precautions to prevent civilian casualties.”

“This incident highlights the continued toll civilians pay with the ongoing indiscriminate shelling in Taiz City as well as the perpetual fear and stress people live with that a shell could hit their home at any moment,” the organization said on Twitter.
