Four young girls were wounded on Monday morning in an explosion of a projectile left by the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in Al Dalea province, south Yemen.
According to relatives of the victims, the girls ___ Fatima Matonsh Qasem, 14; Amat Al Aleem Qasem Saleh,15; Amat Alrahman Qasem Mohammed Ahmed,15; and Amat Al Khaliq Mohammed Ahmed,17___ were collecting firewood in a valley in Hajar district, west of the province, when they saw projectile and tried to play with it, causing the projectile to go off.
A medical source in Al Nasr Hospital said the four girls were moved to the hospital and are now receiving medical treatment, noting that they are in a stable condition.
Locals called on demining squads to clear their areas from mines and explosive devices that had been laid by Houthis before they withdrew from the area.
