Young girl shot dead by Houthi sniper

Republican Yemen
A 9-year-old girl was shot dead on Thursday, two months following the killing of her sister, by a Houthi-affiliated sniper in Hays district, south of the key port city of Hodeidah.
Young girl Ghazal Abdel Rahman Dobla was shot dead while standing near her home by a Houthi sniper, local sources said.
According to local and medical sources, the bullet penetrated the victim’s back and went out through her chest.
The same sources added that locals in the area rushed to rescue the poor girl as they tried to move her to Al Khawkha district, but she died on the way to the hospital.
On Wednesday, Secretary-General of the Norwegian Refugee Council, Jan Egeland, condemned the targeting of women and children by snipers and shells.
Hodeidah has been witnessing intense fighting between Houthi militia and forces loyal to the internationally recognized government despite a ceasefire truce that was reached under the Stockholm agreement in late 2018.
