The UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, told the U.N. Security Council today he had sent an “advanced draft” of a ceasefire deal to Yemen’s warring parties last week.
The UN envoy also expressed deep concern over the shutdown of Sana’a Airport and the military offensive on Marib province.
“Military shifts and consequences and events in Marib have ripple effects on dynamics of the conflict across Yemen,” Griffiths told the U.N. Security Council.
“Now is the time for the parties to swiftly conclude the negotiations,” Griffiths added.
According to a UN source, delegations from Yemen’s warring parties will meet in Switzerland on Thursday to discuss a United Nations-backed agreement on prisoner releases.
