Speaker of Yemen’s legitimate House of Representatives Sultan Al-Barakani said on Saturday that the United Nations and its Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, must take serious steps towards achieving an inclusive, comprehensive peace in light of the three references: the Gulf Initiative, National Dialogue Outcomes, and UN 2216 Resolution.

During a meeting with the UN envoy to Yemen, Al-Barakani asserted that the catastrophic impact of the Houthi coup on Yemen and Yemenis is unbearable and that it is about time the UN and the International Community broke their silence with regard to Houthi crimes and violations.

“Houthis always humper any exerted efforts to make peace. The wide-scale offensive on Marib and Al Jwaf provinces is another example of how they undermine peace efforts,” Al-Barakani said.

He also shed light on the crisis of floating FSO Safer Oil Tanker, stressing the importance of finding an urgent solution for the tanker before it’s too late, accusing the Iran-backed Houthi militia is using the oil tanker crisis as a bargaining chip.
