Landmine kills an elderly man in al-Bayda

Republican Yemen

An elderly civilian has been killed in a mine explosion in al-Bayda, central Yemen

Seventy-year-old Mohammed Saleh Dhyab stepped on an anti-personnel mine laid by the Iran-inked Houthis in Wady Tebeen in the district of al-Karyshia while carrying firewood on his car, local sources said.

Locals told Republican Yemen that the victim was unaware of the newly-laid minefield where his car ran over a mine that went off and killed him.

International reports say these minefields will continue to kill or maim hundreds, if not thousands, of unsuspecting civilians for decades to come.
