Masam, the Saudi Project for Landmine Clearance in Yemen, said the project has managed to demine a total of 125902 Houthi-laid mines, improvised explosive devices, and unexploded ordinance since the start of its mission in mid-2018.
The Saudi project added that its demining teams removed as many as 1616 mines and explosive devices during the fourth week of January.
Director-General of the Saudi project Ousama Algosaibi said the teams, supervised by a group of foreign experts and headed by Iraqi expert Zaoba Alrawi, have conducted a mine-destroying operation of 3187 mines and explosive devices in Bab Almandab district, located in the western coast.
According to Algosaibi, 13 mine-destroying operations have been carried out that resulted in demining 72684 mines, unexploded ordinance, and explosive devices on the western coast.
Reports say that the Houthi militia has laid about a million mines in large swaths of the country, which have killed and maimed thousands of civilians.
