Clashes between Govt Forces and Separatists in Abyan, 4 Killed

Clashes flared up on Monday between Security Forces loyal to Yemen’s internationally recognized government and Security Belt Forces of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the southern province of Abyan, killing four and wounding 8 others.

According to local sources, the clashes erupted after the Security Forces set up a military roadblock in the western entrance of the province.

A medical official in Al Shaeed Awad Hospital said, on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief the media, that 4 soldiers were killed and another 8 wounded from both sides.

Since August, forces loyal to the legitimate government and militias of the southern separatists have been sharing control of Abyan province after deadly clashes that erupted between two sides, leading Saudi Arabia to intervene and call for talks to halt the ongoing infighting.
