October 8, (Republican Yemen) ___ Four children were killed and two others wounded on late Monday when an explosive device laid by Iran-aligned Houthi militia went off south the flashpoint port city of Hodeida.
Health officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the explosion took place in Wadi Nakhla of Hays district where the children happened to be playing.
The officials said that all the casualties were from the same family.
Due to recent rainfall and floods, some of the unmarked land mines and explosive devices that had been randomly planted by Houthi rebels were exposed, remaining a grave threat to civilians.
Reports indicate that the minefields will leave Yemen riddled with buried explosives that could kill or maim unsuspecting civilians for decades before the devices can all be removed.
