Two Houthi Drones Intercepted in Khamis Mushayt

Houthi armed group has launched at least two drones targeting Khamis Mushayt that is home to an air base.

Houthi-run news channel Al-Masirah reported Monday the rebels launched two Qasef-2K drones to strike the southwest Saudi city.

Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said Saudi air defense forces shot down two weaponized drones launched by Houthis.

In a statement carried by SPA, Col. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesman for the Arab Coalition supporting Yemen’s legitimate government, said the attack was part of the continuing attempt by “Houthi terrorists” to target civilian installations in Saudi Arabia.

The Iranian-backed Houthi insurgents increasingly have targeted the kingdom with bomb-carrying drones.

Khamis Mushait, some 815 kilometers (510 miles) southwest of the capital, Riyadh, is near the kingdom’s border with Yemen.
