Houthi insurgents go on breaching ceasefire agreement and shell residential areas, wounding scores of civilians in different parts of the flashpoint city of Hodeidah, west Yemen.
In At Tuhayat District, located to the south of the port city of Hodeidah, the Houthi militia launched yesterday a Katyusha rocket and some mortar shells on Arwa School, local sources said.
Luckily, no casualties were reported since the attacks took place after the students and school’s staff had already left the school. Consequently, the school announced it had ceased the educational process until further notice.
Not far from Arwa School, in At Tuhayat District, a child and four women were wounded when a mortal shell landed on a house owned by a resident called Ali Dakhen.
In Hays District, also located to the south of Hodeidah, a child – who was playing beside his house- was shot by a Houthi gunman, residents said..
According to a military source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the militia showered different sites of the joint forces with mortar shells in an attempt to cover for their gunmen who were trying to infiltrate positions of the joint forces in the northern and eastern parts of the city.
The Houthi rebels have been continuously shelling areas, lately liberated by government forces, in the port city of Hodeidah despite the ceasefire agreement that took place in Sweden in late 2018.
