Houthis have usurped the Officers’ Club, a public property, in the rebel-held capital of Yemen and turned it into a private enterprise.
The picture above, taken for the gate of what was known as the Officers’ Club, shows a billboard entitling ” Sam City Entertainment Club.”
” The Houthis took over the club and turned it into a private enterprise, to be owned for one of their leaders,” a source from the club said on condition of anonymity.
The Houthi militia has lately transferred public parks and government facilities to private ownership, utilizing them in private investments.
The insurgents have been using the de facto authority to exploit their power and make profits to become richer while the Yemeni people are on the brink of famine.
