Yemen’s internationally recognized government commented on a statement made by UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt, aired on “Sky News Arabia”, describing it as irrelevant to the Stockholm agreement.
”The government has the full right to administer the affairs of the Yemeni state and extend its influence over all of the country’s territory,” Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( MOFA ) of Yemen said in a statement.
The statement added that the issue of local authorities was settled in Sweden, denying there were talks regarding neutral troops or authority.
Earlier, UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said that the port city of al-Hudaydah is taken over by the Houthi militia, and that the two sides are responsible for stalling the implementation of the Stockholm agreement.
MOFA considers talks about any other arrangements before ensuring the implementation of the Stockholm agreement as premature and must be linked to ending the coup.
The Yemeni government demanded the international community to take responsibilities for implementing what was agreed upon, emphasizing that it could be the first step into a comprehensive peace agreement.
